FOODLAND Project – SUA/EU (2019–Present)

Advancing Nutrition-Sensitive Food Systems

The Foodland Project, implemented by Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) with support from the European Union, advances nutrition-sensitive food systems and develops value-added food products.

  • Strengthens local food systems through organizational innovations and Food Hubs that enhance coordination, market orientation, and collaboration among farmers, SMEs, and stakeholders.
  • Boosts farming productivity and resilience through open technological innovations such as precision agriculture, hydroponics, aquaculture, and improved crop varieties.
  • Enhances food processing capacity with affordable, sustainable technologies for drying, storage, packaging, and the creation of nutritious products.
  • Promotes healthy, diverse diets by raising consumer awareness, supporting behaviour change, and empowering women and children as key nutrition drivers.
  • Fosters knowledge-sharing and dissemination through participatory training, networking, and scaling of agro-biodiversity innovations.
